PartnerInfrastructure, private equity, transaction execution

Fifteen years structuring, diligencing and executing investments across Asia — and overseeing them through development, construction and exit rather than handing them on at completion.

Background

Sharon Yeo is a private equity and infrastructure investment professional with fifteen years of experience across private markets, infrastructure investing and complex transaction execution in Asia. She has operated on every side of the table — as a direct investor structuring and executing deals, as an owner overseeing assets through development, construction and exit, and as an institutional allocator underwriting fund managers. Working consistently in lean, principal-led environments, she has been directly involved at every stage of each transaction and fund’s lifecycle — investment due diligence, project development, entry structuring, commercial and legal documentation, project finance, SPV operational management, exit execution, and fund administration and liquidation — across a combined transaction portfolio of over USD 1.5 billion.

Prior to Gatelanes, Sharon was Investment, Risk and Portfolio Management Director at Alba Renewables, a 1.8 GW clean energy platform across Southeast Asia, where she worked across the platform’s development and investment activities. She was the internal execution lead for Brookfield Asset Management’s acquisition of the platform, managing the transaction from in-flight due diligence through to closing. Following the acquisition, she built Alba’s compliance infrastructure from the ground up as part of the integration with Brookfield — AML policies, third-party screening, compliance handbooks, internal authorisation matrices, operational workflows, and the project and enterprise risk management framework.

Before Alba, Sharon was Senior Investment Manager at Aquila Clean Energy APAC, joining as the firm grew from a single Singapore office into a six-country institutional platform across Asia. She led the acquisition of a 300 MW solar portfolio in Korea and managed a 220 MW battery storage portfolio in Australia, handling the full transaction cycle on both mandates — from origination and due diligence through execution and project delivery. At the portfolio company level, she established investment controls, financial governance and ESG frameworks that were subsequently adopted across the broader platform; at the fund level, she was deeply involved in valuation, investor reporting and risk management.

Earlier, Sharon spent eight years at Armstrong Asset Management, a Singapore-based infrastructure fund manager with a USD 164 million mandate investing in renewable energy across Southeast Asia. She oversaw the fund’s investments through their full life cycle — from entry through construction to realisations, across solar portfolios in Thailand and the Philippines, a wind power asset in Vietnam, and a Vietnam-wide renewable energy platform. At the fund level, she worked across fund administration, liquidity forecasting, valuation, LP governance and investor relations.

Sharon began her private markets career at UOB Asia Investment Partners covering Asian private equity funds, secondary LP interests and distressed co-investments — including onsite due diligence, portfolio monitoring and the pricing of secondary LP transactions.
