Background

Peter Woo is a veteran investment professional with over thirty years of global markets experience across asset management, private banking and family office advisory. He has held senior leadership roles spanning Hong Kong, the United States and Europe, with a career distinguished by multi-asset portfolio management, hedge-fund selection and pension oversight. He is one of Hong Kong’s most senior CFAs.

Peter was previously Head of Asset Management at AMTD, part of the Cheung Kong Group, where he built the platform and oversaw discretionary mandates and fund-manager evaluation.

Earlier, Peter was General Manager and Chief Investment Officer of Dao Heng Fund Management, leading a twelve-person investment team and managing the firm’s flagship unit trusts. Under his leadership the firm’s fixed income fund achieved first-quartile rankings, while the global growth and global balanced funds reached top rankings in the SCMP universe. He joined from Standard Chartered International Private Banking, where as Chief Portfolio Strategist he launched and managed two funds of hedge funds and conducted institutional-grade due diligence across global managers and asset classes.

He designed and oversaw the Dao Heng Bank Group’s internally managed staff pension plan, with responsibility for its asset allocation, securities selection and overall performance. As Senior Fund Manager and Responsible Officer at Springwaters Financial Securities he launched and managed a fund of hedge funds allocating to elite managers including Elliott Management.

Peter’s US foundation includes serving as Portfolio Manager and Quantitative Strategist at Pacific Telesis, managing nearly $1 billion in fixed income assets in-house, supervising external managers and initiating the firm’s internal FX programme. Before that he spent three years as a Research Analyst at the International Monetary Fund, conducting macroeconomic modelling and currency-related econometric analysis.
